7. World peace is free

23/12/02

2 H 30 - I woke up wide awake. The first thing I thought of was, "Oh, yech. I was supposed to have a Solstice dream and I didn't do it." Then, you know how suddenly a dream that didn't seem to be there before suddenly pops into consciousness ? Well, that's what happened to me. Here's the dream :

A male newspaper reporter is frustrated by the fact that his newspaper won't report the "good news," the news of people trying to make peace. He is feeling like giving up, when he realizes that he can start a column on the Internet, and have people from around the world contribute their stories. He decides, with pleasure, that he can start an Internet news column called : "World Peace is Free."

Comment
So there's my dream. Nothing very complex. Happy Solstice to all... Merry Christmas, happy Chanukkah, and World Peace is Free.

For me, the meaning of the phrase, World Peace is Free, is that. Although people are always talking about the costs of war, both in terms of human life and the price of armaments, World Peace costs us nothing. In fact, the essence of peace may be freedom. Of course, I recognize that there are several strains of philosophical discussion involved here. But, hey, it was just a dream.

Je me suis complètement réveillée.

At some ideas you stand perplexed, especially at the sight of human sins, uncertain whether to combat it by force or by human love. Always decide, "I will combat it with human love." If you make up your mind about that once and for all, you can conquer the whole world. Loving humility is a terrible force; it is the strongest of all things and there is nothing like it. - Dostoyevsky
